Israel Roizman faces nearly $15,000 in fines after residents living at 7383 Highland Ave. reported having no heat beginning on New Year’s Eve. The problem related to faulty circulation pumps.
Some tenants stayed at a hotel that was paid for by Roizman, while others stayed at the apartments and used space heaters provided by Roizman. The heat issue affected 129 low-income apartments.
The landlord is promising to credit two months rent along with utility bills and food expenses incurred during the disruption, according to the tenants’ association.
Representatives appeared in Yonkers City Court Friday and presented documented evidence that the problems have been resolved. Heat returned to the units on Tuesday.
